Target groupThe population of approximately three poor areas, with about 40.000 inhabitants, and the authorised state services.
ObjectiveImprovement of the living conditions of 40.000 inhabitants in 3 poor zones, by providing basic infrastructure and developing mechanisms and competences for a sustainable drinking water access, sanitation and water for agriculture, conform to the principles of integrated water resource management.
Main results- The drinking water infrastructure has been built; it provides a regular access to drinking water for the 5000 inhabitants of Croix Fer.
- 50 families have access to improved irrigation techniques in Croix Fer through the rehabilitation of their system, and the application of adapted production methods.
- The access to basic sanitation has increased with 7% in Croix Fer, Vallières and Mombin Crochu through the installation of latrines.
- At least 80% of the infrastructure as well as the management structures function well.
- At least half of the users changes 2 pernicious habits with regard to hygiene and environmental protection.
- 20 farmer families in Croix Fer, Vallières and Mombin Crochu have increased their agricultural production with 20% through a pilot experiment on ecological sanitation.
