= Development of the NGO platforms in the Kivu provinces, East-DR Congo.
The NGO platforms PEHA and REHA respectively in South Kivu and North Kivu are acknowledged as efficient groups for capacity building and for technical and methodological learning processes in the water and sanitation sector.

REHA (Réseau Eau, Hygiène et Assainissement du Nord-Kivu, met basis in Goma).
Member organisations: AMI-Kivu, Antenne Technology/Grands Lacs, ATHR, BEHCOGEN, BOAD, CADRE, CARITAS, CBCA, CECA, CEPROSSAN, CODECO, ETN, FACAR, GAIDER, PAL, UPADERI
and GEAD (secretary).
Target groups
Directly: the 2 platforms.
Indirectly: give access to 24.000 people for drinking water and hygiene. Objectives
The action wants to concede to the necessity of the population to drinking water facilities and sanitation. Many NGO's provide 'short term emergency help'. By setting up a network and reinforcing the capacity by organising workshops, exchanges, formulating action plans and action-focused research, there will be an evolution to sustainable development.
Main results- More than 60% of the actors in the water and sanitation sector in North and South Kivu (except the emergency aid organisations) are member of the PEHA or REHA.
- The members of both the co-operations pay membership fees to help financing its functioning.
- Action plans are implemented for the reinforcement of the organisation, the development of the organisation and for organisational learning.
- 24.000 people will have sustainable access to drinking water.
- An experiment concerning Integrated Water Resources Management in a micro basin is done and will regarded as a study-object by other actors.
Financing
DGCD, - the department LNE of the Flemish government -, Arcadis Belgium and TMVW through the Flemish Partnership Water for Development, and private donations. Exchange of expertiseATOL: coaching of organisational learning.
TMVW and Arcadis Belgium: technical control of design of gravity drinking water systems.
