PartnersSNV, CREPA, PNE, Aqua for All and HELVETAS. Target groupsAbout 102.000 direct beneficiaries will be supplied in the course of the project in 22 municipalities of 6 departments in North-West and South-West Benin: - Alibori: Banikoara, Kandi.
- Atacora: Boukombe, Cobly, Natitingou, Kérou, Kouande, Péhunco.
- Borgou: N’Dali, Nikki, Péréré, Tchaourou.
- Donga: Copargo. Djougou.
- Couffo: Aplahoué, Dogbo, Lalo, Toviklin.
- Mono: Houéyogbé, Bopa, Lokossa, Athiémé.
Objectives- A better access to drinking water and sanitation.
- An optimal use of water for hygiene.
- A better application of the institutional framework within the framework of the recent decentralization.
- Reinforcement of the abilities of the different actors in their specific roles.
- A better cooperation of the different actors on the local but also on the national level.
- Obtaining the participation of the population groups in planning, realization and management (delegated client-contractorship).
- An improvement of the maintenance of the water points (promotion of private approach).
- Apply the IWRM approach on the local level with specific attention to gender.
Main results- An increased access to potable water (205 water points) and to sanitary infrastructure (2360 realizations).
- The behaviour of the population groups has improvement in accordance with the principles of Integrated
- Water Resources Management.
- The local actors are able to play their role in the supplies of potable water and sanitary installations within the framework of the decentralization.
- The users of household water are involved in the IWRM planning.
- The project activities are executed in accordance with the principles of good governance.
