Target Group
The villages of 3 municipalities in the Antanifotsy district: Ambatomiady, Ambohimandroso, and Ampitatafika, with a total of 101.053 inhabitants. Drinking water services are provided to 8.000 people. 4000 people get access to basic sanitation.
Objective
To improve access to drinking water and sanitation and improve management of these services in the Antanifotsy District.
Main Results
- Water Committees are structured to accommodate sustainable management of existing and new installations.
- A dialogue about water and sanitation has been initiated at the communal and intercommunal level between the water committees, the local authorities and the elected councillors.
- Each year, about 3000 people are given access to drinking water by installing new or by rehabilitating existing drinking water mains.
- The construction works are accompanied by an awareness raising campaign related to water and sanitation which results in a changed behaviour.
