- Integrated water management in the basin of the river "Les Moustiques" (near Port de Paix) in cooperation with the various water users.
- Developing a common vision of protecting natural resources by local actors.
- Strengthening local governance structures (river basin committees, drinking water committees, irrigation committees) and the local authorities for planning, implementation and monitoring of the catchment.
- Enhancing the knowledge and improving the conduct of water users and water system managers in regard to drinking water, hygiene, sanitation and environmental conservation.
- Improved management of environmental risks (flooding, salinization, erosion).
- Increased food security after the earthquake of Jan 12th 2010.

Target group
- The population living and working in the basin of the river “Les Moustiques”. The population is estimated at 35.000 people. A large part of the population (+/- 23.500 people) will indirectly benefit from the action.
- 1.200 people wil have access to sanitation.
- 2.400 families will increase their production with on average 20% thanks to irrigation, drainage and improved irrigation techniques.
Objective
The local actors are capable of improving the sustainable access to water services in the basin of the river “Les Moustiques” according to the principles of IWB.
